Oct 20th 2017 – Managers Update 
Current Bird Numbers: The DNR area bird count as of last week was 0000 ducks.
2017 Hunter Bird Take Stands at: 1209 Ducks and 8 Geese

Area Condition Update:  Duck numbers are looking very good with increasing numbers of mallard and black duck. Significant numbers remain for wigeon and gadwall.  Teal and wood duck numbers have decreased slightly.

All zones were flooded over the past week. The only zones that will have real limited water will be zones 2, 10 and 21, as usual since they are in the northwest corner of each hunting field.

North Field Zones

Zones 2-6 – Corn cover is good to excellent with heights between 8-9 feet; buckwheat and millet plots are good to excellent.

Zones 7-9 – Corn cover is poor with blinds located in each zone; buckwheat and millet plots are marginal.

Middle Field Zones

Zones 10-20 – Corn cover is good to excellent with heights between 8-9 feet; buckwheat and millet plots are good to excellent.

South Field Zones

Zone 21 – Corn cover is poor to marginal with the best cover on the south end of the zone. Zone 22  Corn cover is good to marginal with the best cover starting on the north end.

Zone 23 – Corn cover is good to marginal.

Zone 24 – Corn cover is marginal to poor with a blind.

Zone 25 – Corn cover is marginal to poor with a blind.

Zone 26 – Corn cover is poor with two blinds.
