Fish Point Report 10-22-2017

Oct 22th 2017 – Managers Update –
Current Bird Numbers: The DNR area bird count as of last week was 19,165 ducks and 1,400 geese.
2017 Hunter Bird Take Stands at: 3246 Ducks and 326 Geese

Area Condition Update: Gadwall, Black ducks, Mallard, Pintail and Ring-neck numbers increased this week.Wood duck, Scaup and Ruddy duck numbers decrease compared to last week’s count.

Corn in most zones have 7ft to 9ft tall corn and should provide excellent cover and food, with the exception of zone 23, 25-26 which varies from 4ft to 5ft tall. Zones 9, 15, 17, 19, 23, 25-26, 29, 32, 49 and 66 will have a hunting blind to provide additional cover. All zones have small grains around them (Barley, Buckwheat, Japanese Millet and numerous moist soil plants) so there will be plenty of food for the waterfowl to feed on throughout the season. Water condition in zones 1-49 very in depth from 6-24inches. Zones 58-63,
64-69 currently have 6-18 inches of water. Water is still pumping into zone 50-56, currently 50-53 and 56 has 4- 12 inches of water and zones 54-55 are dry.
